APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONERS TO THE CHEROKEE-LEMP SPECIAL BUSINESS DISTRICT BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS


The Cherokee-Lemp Special Business District Board of Commissioners is accepting applications to fill two (2) vacancies. The appointed Commissioners shall serve a four (4) year term expiring on December 31, 2025. The purpose of the Special Business District is to plan and implement services and improvements within the District.

To qualify for appointment, the applicants shall be 1) the owner of real property within the District or their representative or 2) a renter within the District or their representative.

The Mayor of the City of St. Louis with the advice and consent of the Board of Alderman shall appoint the new Commissioners. Applications are available at 1920 Cherokee Street OR online at https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/government/boards/ OR can be obtained by emailing cherokee.chief@icloud.com or otkel@stlouis-mo.gov

Applications shall be submitted to cherokee.chief@icloud.com or otkel@stlouis-mo.gov or left at 1920 Cherokee, attn: Ray Simon by Friday, November 19, 2021. Applicants shall be considered without regard to race, color, age, gender, religion, national origin or disability.

In an effort to welcome visitors back to our neighborhood, the Cherokee-Lemp Special Business District is offering a $50 reimbursement to any business that adds mulch and/or plants to the tree lawn in front of their building. To claim your reimbursement, please bring your receipt of $50 or more to the monthly meeting on the first Thursday of the month in the courtyard behind 1910 Cherokee from 9am to 10am.

The program proposed would operate as follows:

  • Business owners within the Cherokee-Lemp Special Business District shall be entitled to reimbursement of up to fifty dollars ($50.00) for incurred expenses in the beautification of the tree lawn (the space between the public sidewalk and the street curb).

  • Reimbursable expenses would include plants, flowers (annual or perennial,) ground covers, mulch and/or pavers. Detailed receipts will be required for reimbursement. There will be no reimbursements made for labor.



As COVID protocols evolve, we are moving to in-person monthly meetings held outdoors. Weather permitting, the Cherokee-Lemp Special Business District will meet the first Thursday of the month in the courtyard behind 1910 Cherokee from 9am to 10am.
